When the first Kantele was played, according to Finnish mythology, humans and animals listened spellbound to its magic sound.
Our Choroi Kantele enchants listeners today as did this mythic instrument in ancient times. This instrument made of ash wood reminds one of the Finnish archetype with its open gesture and a lemniscate in the centre. The instrument has nine strings which can be tuned both to a diatonic or a pentatonic scale.
It can be played as in ancient times, resting on the knees or held in the hands.
